Eagles split games in Glasgow

Sidney's boys rolled to a 68-46 victory in Glasgow Friday.

A half-court shot by Allen Andersen to end the first quarter gave the Eagles momentum and a 15-12 lead.

The Eagles then scored the first eight points of the second quarter on six points by Nathan Johnson and a 12-footer by Matt Brenner.

After a hoop by Glasgow, the Eagles accounted for the next seven points on a three-pointer by Mitch Kallevig and four points by Andersen.

Glasgow's Danny Hagefeldt scored the next five points to pull the Scotties to 30-19, but Kallevig ended the half with a three-pointer for a 33-19 advantage.

With the score at 43-27 late in the third quarter, Sidney struck for seven straight points on two free throws by Johnson, a free toss by Devin Bell, two free throws by Kallevig and a drive by Andersen for a 50-27 margin.

Hagefeldt hit a three-pointer to close the margin to 50-30 at the end of the quarter.

The Eagles, behind the scoring of Tyrell McPherson, scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter for a 57-30 lead in the non-conference game.

Sidney's top scorers were Johnson with 15, Andersen with 11 and Jordan Abelseth with 11.

Also scoring were Kallevig with eight, McPherson with eight, Brenner with four, Bell with four, Jared Baisch with three, Carl Dynneson with two and Beau Prevost with two.

Leading Glasgow were Chad Dawson and Cory Smith with 11 each.

Glasgow's girls surprised the Eagles, 47-43.

A free throw by Taylor Markle with less than 20 seconds left put the game away for the Scotties.

Jordan Sullivan led the Eagles with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Janae Moore added eight and Laura Kuylen scored seven. Also scoring were Ashley Thiel with five, Vanessa Bawden with four and A.J. Johnson with two.
