Fair concert tickets selling well

Ticket sales for the Richland County Fair's concert got off to a flying start last week.

"Amazing - they were very, very good," fair manager Jamie Larson said of the first week of sales. "We're very pleased with the turnout."

On Wednesday, a total of 353 tickets were sold for the Aug. 2 concert featuring Clay Walker and Jo Dee Messina. That includes packaged tickets.

"It was very busy that day," Larson said. "It was constant all day."

Last year, 222 tickets were sold on the first day of sales.

"The numbers overall were better than last year," Larson said. "And last year, we also had a good first day."

As of Tuesday, more than half of the reserved tickets for the concert had been sold.

Ticket packages, which include the concert, two nights of the rodeo and an admissions button, cost $52. A reserved concert ticket is $40, a general admission concert ticket is $35 and an advanced rodeo ticket is $8.

Walker's most recent hit was "Fall." His hits also included "Dreaming with My Eyes Wide Open," "This Woman and This Man," "If I Could Make A Living" and "Hypnotize the Moon."

Messina's list of hits includes: "Heads Carolina, Tails California," "Bye, Bye," "I'm Alright," "You're Not in Kansas Anymore," "Burn" and "Was That My Life."

"We're having an excellent response from the public," Larson said.
