Local skateboarders gathered at Veterans Memorial Park for a skatepark fundraiser and demonstration Thursday. The event was organized by friends and family of Hunter Dehner to raise money for a skatepark. Skateboarders from ages 5-18 were having a great time skateboarding and doing tricks. Starting from above clockwise, Ryan Goff does a kick flip, Matt Herbst ollies off the steps at the pavilion, and Logan Deming does a kick flip off the steps.

" Hey, maybe if we have a "fundraiser for some helmets" we can raise enough money to get some for all the kids who ride bikes around town some too. I rarely see the kids riding bikes wearing any helmets either. "

" I'm all for the skate park. But looking at the pictures that were just in the paper, I see no helmets, knee pads, etc. Who is going to pay when someone gets hurt? Don't you think helmets and pads should be a must in order to skate in the park? Who's going to inforce it? "

" The city had 500,000.00 for the slide at the Swimming pool----they should come up with the same for this project--lets get this built--{the skatepark} "
