Lucille Marion (Marcinkowski) Olson
1916-2008

Lucille Marion (Marcinkowski) Olson, 91, a devoted wife and mother, and longtime eastern Montana resident, passed away on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at the Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday afternoon, Sept. 25, 2008, at 2 p.m. (MDT) at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Culbertson by Father Francis Schreiber. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may then join the family at a reception at the American Legion Hall.

Friends may call at St. Anthony’s Church in Culbertson Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, for a viewing at 3 p.m. followed by a vigil and rosary service at 7 p.m.

Lucille was born on Dec. 11, 1916, to Antoni and Blandyna Marcinkowski in Harlem. She was the youngest of 11 children. She was a graduate of Culbertson High School and Kinmans Business University.

In 1944, she married Oscar W. Olson, McCabe, in Vallejo, Calif., where he was stationed with the Army. Upon his discharge they moved to the family farm two miles east of McCabe. In 1956 the family moved to Sidney where they raised their children. She made several moves after the graduation of their youngest son.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and other siblings; her husband, Oscar, passed away in 1983.

She is survived by her four children: Phyllis (Gary) Sethre, Wolf Point; Peter (Donna) Olson, Culbertson; Stephen (Monica) China Grove, North Carolina; and Mitchell (Joan) Olson, Sidney; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a longtime member of Saint Anthony’s parish of Culbertson and a 71-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Lucille was extremely active in the Cub Scouting program and Senior Citizens.

Memorials may be made to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 81 or the charity of one’s choice. The Everson Funeral Home of Williston, N.D., is caring for the family on behalf of the Everson Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Culbertson.
