Sveet family benefit

A spaghetti dinner and auction to benefit the Sveet family is Friday from 4:30-7 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 211 E. Holly. Items for the auction may be donated at the church through Thursday. A live pie auction begins at 6 p.m. The Sveet family lost their entire home and belongings in a fire in December.

Savage dinner


The annual lutefisk and meatball dinner at First Lutheran Church, Savage, is from 12:30-5 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $12 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Congregational matching funds are being applied for through Thrivent Financial.

Cutest babies

The Sidney High School softball program is asking for the public’s support in selecting the “cutest babies of the year.” From now until Sunday, individuals can submit photos of babies, up to 2 years of age, for the softball team’s “cutest babies of the year” contest. Entries can be given to any high school softball player, dropped off at the Sidney Herald or e-mailed to billv@sidneyherald.com. The cutest baby is decided by the public voting at Sidney’s home athletic events. Each vote is $1, and there’s no limit of amount of votes.

Class of 1979

Sidney High School Class of 1979 reunion meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Triangle Nite Club. Dates for the reunion are June 26-27 during the Town and Country Festival. Classmates are asked to bring any information including addresses, e-mails, phone numbers and ideas. E-mail publisher@sidneyherald.com if you have any information but cannot attend the meeting.

Book club

Fort Buford History Book Club meets at 7 p.m. (CT ) Jan. 14 at the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center. The meeting is free.
