Kenna, Broadus, has Combined Immune Deficiency Syndrome and needs a marrow match soon. She does not have a family match and her best hope is to find a bone marrow donor through National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). On any given day, 6,000 patients are searching the NMDP Registry looking for an unrelated donor who will give them the gift of life as well! You may be their only hope.
Registration is being offered at no charge due to special funding made possible by an anonymous private foundation. Donors of any percentage minority background are strongly encouraged to join as there is such a great need. Shi, Lodge Grass, is an 11-year-old Crow child who will most likely need a Native American donor. Opportunities to join NMDP as a potential donor for Kenna, Shi and others will be offered at the following locations:
• Miles City – Tuesday, 4-7 p.m. – Comfort Inn
|
|
• Glendive – Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Glendive Medical Center, Carney Conference Room
The first step to becoming a donor is to join the NMDP Registry. Volunteers must be 18-60, in good health and not excessively overweight. For information, contact Eileen Damone at the Montana Marrow Program toll free at 888-748-3494, or by e-mail at Eileen.Damone@inbc2.org. 쇓
