Richland County All-Star Trace Jones connects with a pitch Friday.

The Richland County All-Stars needed one big inning to get past Lewistown Friday morning in the Eastern Monta State 10 and under baseball tournament. After a pair of well-played innings of baseball, Richland broke the game open in the third by scoring 11 runs in way to a 15-3 victory after four innings.

Richland got on the scoreboard in the first. Trace Jones, who reached on a walk, used good base-running to score all the way from first after a Brett Norby single to give his team a 1-0 lead.

The All-Stars continued to get good offensive production in the second. Dawson McGlothlin walked to lead off the inning and ended up scoring on a Adam Wentz single. Wentz used good speed to score on a passed ball to give Richland a 3-0 lead.

Richland pitcher Parker Dean continued to slow down the bats of Lewistown to keep the score at 3-0 going into the third.

Brett Norby, Garrett Basta and Casey Watson all got on with walks to start the third. Dawson McGlothlin earned a RBI after being hit by a pitch. Basta and Watson scored on passed balls while McGlotlin scored after a Paxton Miller walk.

Damian Martinez doubled to center to score two. Trace Jones kept things going with a double to right center to score Martinez and Adam Wentz. Norby earned a RBI with a sacrifice fly to right and Basta drove in a runner with a ground-out to short to give Richland a 14-0 lead.

Lewistown showed no quit in the third as the squad scored three runs off of a single, a walk, and a homer to cut Richland’s deficit to 11.

Richland got an insurance run in the top of the fourth when Norby drove in Jones from second to help give his team a 15-3 lead.

Needing three runs to keep the game alive, Lewistown was unable to get anything going. Dean struck out two in the fourth to help give Richland the 15-3 victory and a 2-1 record in the tournament.

Dean earned the complete game victory. Norby finished the game with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
