After a down harvest a year ago, Nortana Grain bounced back in a big way in 2009.
“Last year, we didn’t have much of a crop at all,” Nortana general manager Rondell Beery said. “So it was nice that we had a very good harvest this year. The prices have come back up, and we were able to have our best crops in the last couple of years.”
An estimated 600,000 bushels of grain are expected to be marketed this month. Everything has continued to go smoothly, Beery said.

One of the reasons for such a good harvest has been due to a recent remodel at Nortana, the manager said.
“It has really helped our lines move quickly. The trucks can now come in and out with no problems,” he said.
The harvest is a result of the hard work by a lot of people.
“We’re lucky to have a really good crew here, and we sure appreciate the support of the farmers,” Beery said. “It was a really strong harvest for us.”
