The Richland County Health Department will hold a mass H1N1 flu shot clinic on Monday from noon to 6 p.m. for the general population 6 months and older at the Community Services Building located on Holly Street in Sidney. The H1N1 vaccine is free. There is also a limited supply of the seasonal flu vaccine available at this clinic for $25.
The health department follows the guidelines from the CDC regarding H1N1 vaccinations. Which recommends the following groups be vaccinated for the H1N1 flu:
• Pregnant women

Persons in the target groups are encouraged to get vaccinated even if they think that they have experienced flu like symptoms already. Unless the person has had a lab confirmed test showing that they were positive for the H1N1 influenza, they are eligible for vaccination and strongly recommended to receive it. Adults only need one vaccination but children age 9 and younger require a second vaccination four weeks apart
The H1N1 vaccination will be available during regular health department clinic hours at the department on Monday through Wednesday from noon to 4:30 p.m. for the remainder of the year. Clinic is from 1-4:30pm on the third Thursday of the month. H1N1 vaccine will be available several months into 2010 until everyone (that wants to be) has been vaccinated. The vaccine will remain free of charge.
Between Oct. 21 and Dec. 8, the Richland County Health Department has received 1,950 doses of vaccine into the county and 1,142 persons received their first shot and 154 have had their second shot for a total of 1,296 persons vaccinated from the surrounding area.
