It didn’t take long for the Sidney boys basketball team to get back into game form Friday night. The Eagles, who haven’t played since Dec. 8 in their season opener against Williston, took the lead early and didn’t look back on way to a 70-51 victory over conference opponent Miles City.
After getting down 2-0 early, the Eagles led rest of the way by a fairly wide margin. Long distance threes by Cole Steinbeisser and Colten Herbert got the squad going and a pair of lay-ins by senior guard Josh Morasko gave the Eagles a 10-2 advantage.
Sidney closed out the first quarter strong with two Steinbeisser buckets and a three by Neil Martin to help the Eagles take an 18-8 advantage going into the second.

The Cowboys played right with the Eagles in the second half but Sidney controlled the scoreboard the entire way. An inside basket by Prevost and a Sullivan shot beyond the arc gave Sidney a 47-21 lead.
Miles City inched closer with buckets by Ethan Murnin and Tyrell Hess, but Sidney continued to push ahead. A Kallevig three and a Herbert jumper helped the Eagles earn a 58-33 lead going into the fourth.
Too little too late was the story for the Cowboys in the fourth. Miles City found its touch in the last quarter and got within 15, but the Eagles kept their composure and their lead. Free throws by Morasko, Alex Irigoin and Prevost helped the Eagles seal the deal. Sidney earned the 70-51 conference win.
Steinbeisser and Herbert, who played in his first game due to transfer rules, led Sidney with 16 points. Kallevig added nine while Martin and Prevost chipped in with six points. Sullivan finished with five points. Hoffman and Morasko had four while Irigoin and Josh Torgerson rounded things out with two points.
