The Sidney girls basketball team showed plenty of fight and heart in the fourth against Miles City, but ultimately the Eagles didn’t have the firepower to knock off the Cowgirls Thursday night.
The perennial power Cowgirls used a 14-3 advantage in the first on way to a 58-37 victory over Sidney, who was playing without the services of All-State player Jordan Sullivan due to a sprained ankle.
Trailing 53-21 going into the final period, the Eagles found its shot in the fourth. Inside buckets by Megan Johnson and Whitney Thiel got Sidney going early. Kodi Satra and Kayla Lake hit mid-range jumpers near the end of the quarter to get within 20.
