Local groups spread cause through holidays

Published on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 12:38 PM MST

With all the holiday cheer abound, it’s a great time to support the community groups and organizations. It’s also a great time to give to organizations you support and showing what you really believe in.

Richland County offers a wide range of groups to get involved in and express beliefs within those groups. Last weekend, Richland County Right to Life held an art, craft and bake sale over the weekend in support of national pro-life organizations and to support representatives who take trips to speak with Legislatures who decide on the big issues.

It was great to see the community members participate in the sale by either providing goods or purchasing something in support of a cause they believe in. Different kinds of breads, popcorn balls, cookies, cake and blankets went for sale Saturday. The Richland County Right to Life organization holds bake sales every Christmas and Easter. Member Bonnie Bergman, who manned the table, is firm in her beliefs, just like many residents of Richland County. “Life is a sacred thing that should not be taken lightly,” she had said during a break between customers.

It’s no secret Richland County residents are vocal about their beliefs; they hold steadfast in their views. It’s what makes this area so unique. We’re glad to see the various organizations – whatever they may be – out expressing themselves during the holiday season and throughout the year.
