Santa’s other present, thanks for the flag The time was approaching midnite, and the little boy was fast asleep, when he was awakened by the sound of light snow falling and what sounded like hoofs on the roof. Little Jeb was almost 7 and was curious, so he headed to the living room as quiet and fast as he could. There by the tree was Santa who was putting presents around. Jeb looked at Santa and said, “Hi Santa, my name is Jeb. Thank you for the presents. Santa, I see you have a candy cane in your bag, is that for me?” Santa pulled the candy cane out of his bag and showed it to Jeb. “This, Jeb, is the American flag; I always carry them with me and give them to my little boys and girls. “This flag represents our country and stands for freedom for all. That means freedom for you, for Santa and for all Americans. This flag has a long history, and many men and women have fought and died to keep America free. Free so we can fly our flag without fear. And free to remember that this night is not just Santa’s night. But it is the night that over 2,000 years ago baby Jesus was born. Today because of our fore fathers’ sacrifices to save our liberty, we are free to choose the religion of our choice.” “Thank you Santa. And thank you for the Flag. I will fly our flag from my house to let everyone know we will stand by America and we love America.” “Thank You Jeb, goodbye, Merry Christmas and may God Bless America.” |
