Corrine and her twin brother, Clifford, were born in Poplar on March 28, 1922, to parents Clifford and Laura (Gustafson) Foss. She attended school in Brockton and at the age of 9 she moved with her family to a farm in the Mona Community. Corrine attended Miller School and graduated from Brockton High School.

On a cold, snowy day, Jan. 3, 1942, Corrine was united in marriage to Paul Amestoy at St. Philomena’s in Sidney. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage and four children, Rita, Ron, Linda and Gene. Corrine was a dedicated hard-working farm wife, milking, raising bum lambs, chickens, gardening and preparing delicious meals. No one ever left her home hungry. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and Altar Society, and Mona Homemakers. After retiring from farming and moving to Sidney, she was active in St. Matthew’s parish, Women of the Moose and a volunteer at the Good Cents Store.

A special time in her life was the four years she spent as a cook at the Sidney High School. Throughout the years, Corrine enjoyed visiting with neighbors, attending baseball games, dances, playing pinochle and nurturing the beautiful roses in her front yard.

Corrine Amestoy, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care facility. She will truly be missed by family and friends. Our memories of her loving care and generous nature have left a lasting impression.
