Trial dates set in shooting cases

Trial dates in the felony cases charging Bobby Michael Escobedo and Melanie Nicole Berg have been set.

Escobedo, 51, is facing the charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and two counts of assault with a weapon.

After having a reduction of bail request denied Tuesday, Escobedo’s next scheduled date in court is April 22.

Escobedo was arrested after allegedly shooting a Sidney man four times Sept. 27, 2009.

Berg is facing the charge of assault with a weapon, a felony. Her next court date is scheduled for May 5.

The 27-year-old woman is charged with the crime after allegedly shooting her twin brother, Mark S. Berg, in the stomach on Oct. 11, 2009.

    " a judge will allow someone to have a bail option if the person isn't a danger it him or her self, to society, to others, and isn't a flight risk. "

    " Both of these people have been accused of shooting someone.
    One is out and the other is not.
    I believe alcohol was a factor in both cases, someone was seriously injured in both cases, both are felonies, i believe.
    Why the different standards?
    Maybe someone could clue me in on this. "

    " Thank you Judge Irigoin for keeping our community safe from Mr. Escobedo! No one knows what he is capable of doing had he been released with a lesser bond. I hope his innocent victims can start to feel safe again!!!! "
