At this year’s Community Health Fair, RSVP will be working with the Richland County Senior Coalition to ask the community, “What are your thoughts on __________ in Richland County?”

In keeping with the seeds of wellness theme, health fair participants will be asked to pick a leaf off of a tree that will have one of four different topics on it. The topics will include transportation, housing, senior services and volunteering.

The Senior Coalition has started holding focus groups throughout the county and will continue to do so over the next two months to find out what can be done to improve the lives of senior citizens in Richland County.

The health fair is the perfect location to gather information from a wide array of community members. This information will be taken to future focus groups to facilitate discussion.

Of the interviews and focus groups that have already been completed, expanded transportation services seem to be the subject people care the most about. This includes medical transportation, as well as expanding the hours of the current bus system to run on the weekends.

Health fair participants who give us thoughts on their chosen topic will be entered into a drawing for one of two prizes which are a $25 grocery card and an unlimited, ride pass for one month with the Richland County Transportation Service.

RSVP will also have FILE of LIFE cards available to anyone who needs to update their current file. If you would like to have your card updated, please be sure to have a list of your current medications and their dosages with you.

RSVP is a program of the Richland County Health Department and can be reached at 433-2207 or on the Web at www.richland.org/health.
