" CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS AND COACHES! WHAT A GREAT GAME!

Why is everything so many articles that is written are picked apart and have "debbie downer" attitudes put out there. I came to this article hoping to see "Congrats to girls!" comments and people are talking about discrimination? It used to be that discrimination was a big word used for big issues. Is a pep rally really an issue to be throwing around the word discrimination with it?

Couple comments for all you "debbie downers":
Life isn't fair, get over it.
Put your big girl panties on and deal with it. "

" Why no Pep Rally? What does it take, 15-20 minutes out the the school day. My goodness... where is our school spirit going? If you want to compare this to wrestling, they have around 20 wrestler with a chance of making it to state as long as they place in the top 4 at divisional wrestling.
A basketball team is ONE TEAM, same with volleyball and football. There is a big difference. To even place in the top 2 at basketball divisionals is a huge success. And WHO CARES, it's a pep assembly to honor the team/individuals going to state. Why not do it for any sport during the year that goes to state. Why do we damper our school spirit??? I see it all the time, hushing our boys on the bench as they cheer for the girls. WHY? Our girls/boys basketball games are the dullest around. Believe me! it's true. The announcers don't even announce anything during the game. Might as well bring into this mess our football games too. Go to out of town games and your eyes will open at how Sidney games compare with other towns. Come On, let's support and cheer on our high school athletes. They deserve it. "

" In response to "Eagle Fan", that is Not true! A pep assembly was held for the wrestlers before divisionals which included the state trip. All sports teams including speech & drama, get one pep assembly, either for divisional or state, not both. As far as school support is concerned, the girls basketball games have been well supported by SHS staff. "

" There is no descrimination taking place. Due to federal laws concerning equal time given to both girls and boys sports programs, a pep rally could not be given. The wreslting program was given a pep rally before Divisionals I believe. When attending winter sports that was a major question as to why the band and cheerleaders were not at all home games and again has to due with equal time being given to both boys and girls sports program. This was explained to me by a school official and it makes sense in today's world. I think the proper term is title 9..
WAY TO GO LADY EAGLES KEEP UP THE DREAM! "

" Congratulations! keep up the great work.
I have a question for everyone. Why wouldn't Sidney High School allow a pep rally for the girls going to state? The reason given by Mr. Gear was that they don't do pep rallys for state, well I believe they held a rally for the wrestlers going to state and they may have held one for the speech and drama going to state. So, what is the reasoning for the lack of school support for the girls? Is there a little descrimination taking place? "
