Fairview notches first-round win at state

The Fairview girls basketball team controlled throughout in its 38-24 victory over Drummond Thursday in the opening round of the State Class A Tournament.

The Warriors lead 10-5 after the first and took a 20-8 lead at the half. Fairview held a 30-19 lead going into the fourth and held onto the 38-24 victory.

Morgan Klose led all players lead Fairview with 10 points. Katie Hardy had nine while Stephanie Murphy had seven points. Jordan Gifford finished with six while Erica Riedel rounded out the scoring with four points.

Fairview plays Roy-Winifred at 8 p.m. Friday in the semi-finals.
