Eagle Scout award

Published on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 3:03 PM MDT

Tanner Stevens receives his Eagle Scout award from Chip Gifford during a ceremony held Thursday. Stevens is a Scout in Troop 190, Sidney, sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was presented his Eagle award at a special Eagle Court of Honor. As a requirement for the award, Stevens completed an Eagle Scout Service Project this past summer by making improvements to, restoring and painting the swingset and picnic table at the Richland County Emergency Shelter Coalition's Matthew House. With the approval of Zadena Kingland (director, Richland County Emergency Shelter Coalition) as well as local and Montana Council Scout leaders, Stevens directed a group of Scout and adult volunteers who, together with Stevens, donated a total of 123 hours of service time. Donating materials to the project were JohnsonHardware & Furniture, Pamida, ProBuild building center, Pacific Steel & Recycling, Farm & Home Supply and John Stockhill Jewelers. Stevens has been volunteering his time further in a leadership role as an assistant Webelos leader in Cub Scout Pack 190 and plans on graduating from Sidney High School this spring.
