Ivy Marie Leinen

1999-2010

Published on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 3:03 PM MDT

Ivy Marie Leinen, a fifth-grade student at Culbertson School, was born March 2, 1999, in Wolf Point. A precious and happy child, she loved the changing of the seasons, Barbie dolls and butterflies.

In 2001, she moved with her mother, Anita Rose Leinen, to western Montana where her mother worked as a counselor first in Deer Lodge and later in Butte. Ivy danced in rain puddles and laughed in the wind.

Ivy and her mother returned to her grandparents’ home in Poplar in 2005, enjoying the companionship of family and cousins as they shared special events including baptisms and first communions.

Ivy brought joy to the lives she touched with her unique sense of humor. She loved drawing caricatures. The world will miss her Van Gogh talent in light and color. Ivy’s family wants parents to remind their children to “stay away from the river.”

Ivy is survived by her parents: mother, Anita Rose Ann Leinen, and foster father, Christopher Fabert; grandparents Paul and Rhonda (Erickson) Leinen, Poplar; great-grandparents, Marvin and Bettie Erickson, Ekalaka, Laura Jean Erickson, Ekalaka, and Viola Leinen, Fairmont, N.D. Also grateful for sharing her life are her aunt Carlee (Paul) Timm, Selfridge, N.D., and cousins David and Tracee Leinen, and Brandee Timm; aunt Jennifer (David) Wickstrom, Buffalo, S.D., and cousins Shawnee, Harley and Peyton; aunt Liz (Joey) Raaum, Culbertson, and cousins, Isabella and Zackery O’Neill and Gavin Raaum.

Also grateful for sharing her life were her many great aunts, uncles and cousins, including special uncles Mark, Jim, Jerry and Clete (Paulette).

A memorial service is scheduled to be held 10 a.m., Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Poplar.
