Voters, on the Republican side, will have several candidates to consider when they cast their ballots in the June 8 primary election.

Richland County Commissioner Mark Rehbein is facing a challenge from three candidates in his re-election bid. Filing on the Republican ticket were Al Franzen, Shane Gorder and Dan Goss. No one filed on the Democratic ticket.

Richland County Sheriff Brad Baisch, a Democrat, will also face a challenge in his re-election bid. Clint Hecker, a Republican, has filed for the position.

Republican candidates for clerk and recorder are Deb Gilbert, Paula Steinbeisser, Kathy Sweley, Stephanie Verhasselt and Kris Weltikol. Peggy McDowell is the lone candidate for the Democratic nomination.

Also filing on the Republican side are incumbents Sandy Christensen for county treasurer and Gail Staffanson for county superintendent of schools.

Democrats filing for office are Marvin Johnson for coroner and Mike Weber for county attorney.

Greg Mohr has filed for re-election in the non-partisan office of justice of the peace.
