Sidney BPA earns top award at state convention

The Sidney High School BPA Chapter received the Spirit of Professionalism Award at the state convention.


The Sidney High School Business Professionals of America program enjoyed their most success ever at the BPA state conference in Billings this week.

The Sidney BPA chapter was awarded a traveling trophy at the state conference for the Spirit of Professionalism Award, which is given to the chapter that best exemplifies professionalism, leadership and involvement.

“It is considered the top chapter award at the conference,” Elaine Stedman, advisor in Sidney, said. She notes Sidney earned the award against about 80 chapters.

Stedman added, “It’s probably a once in a lifetime thing.”

The chapter also won the silver star award for activities.

Voted to state office from Sidney were Christina Hanson as vice president and Katrina Wilhelm as secretary.

Katelyn Dynneson won a $1,000 BPA scholarship for Montana State University.

Hana Paladichuk won a $500 scholarship.

More than 50 members also qualified for the Statesman and Ambassador Torch Awards.

Sidney placed in a total of 41 events.
