Sidney man sentenced for sexual relations with child

Published on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 7:04 PM MDT

A 29-year-old Sidney man has been sentenced for one count of sexual intercourse without consent and three felony counts of sexual assault.

Leslie Christ Reinlasoder was sentenced to 60 years in the Montana State Prison with 30 years suspended by District Judge Katherine Irigoin Wednesday. The victim of the crimes was a 6-year-old girl.

Reinlasoder will be classified as a Level III sexual offender.

He was sentenced for 30 years for the sexual intercourse charge. He received 10 years, all suspended, for each of the three sexual assault charges, which will run consecutively. The sentence was part of a plea agreement.

According to court records, the incidents occurred between Sept. 1, 2009, and Dec. 15, 2009.

Documents read that Reinlasoder committed the crime of sexual intercourse without consent when he penetrated the victim with his finger.

The acts of sexual assault came when Reinlasoder touched the victim’s privates.

On Dec. 14, 2009, police responded to a call from a mother of a 6-year-old female. The mother reported finding disturbing markings on the victim’s body. She said Reinlasoder had been at the location earlier in the day to help with her children.

After the mother awoken from a nap, she found that her daughter had colored markings on her back. Once questioned, the girl said Reinlasoder had done the markings. More markings were discovered on the victim’s backside by her waistline and into her bottom.

The writing appeared to be pink/red in color. One was a heart and others were hearts with wings. Some writing said “I love Les.”

On Dec. 15, 2009, police interviewed Reinlasoder. He admitted to the writings. He also provided information that on Dec. 14 he touched the victim inappropriately. He admitted he had previous contact with the victim since September 2009. He admitted he continued to have inappropriate contact with the victim from six to eight times in October and November 2009.

There is no defense for what he did, yes it is upsetting to hear, but why defend it, this guy did a horrible thing, to "mot" no it was not a "accident" believe me, I know the man and when he was found out he not only admitted it to police he admitted to some of his friends(needless to say most stopped all contact with him) hoping some would stand buy him, claiming that he "couldn't help it" WHATEVER!!! He deserves worse than he will ever get in prison, this is not like any other crime, this is something horrible and never should of happened at all. People like this sicken me and I am a true believer that people like this should get the death penalty, we need to protect our children and I'm sorry but if it would of been my child he never would of made it to the jail house and I know there are a lot out there who agree with that! "

" Confused: Judge Irigoin has nothing to do or say about what the parole board does. I would like him to sit the rest of his life. I do not agree with the death penality as the statute covering this does not allow for it. Judge Irigoin has nothing to do with that either. I, for one, am tired of or possibly just bored and amazed with the comments in these blogs. Everyone's answers, I be more correct, most everyone's answer is to lock a person up and throw away the keys. Who pays for all these people locked up for ever? The same people wanting a person locked up, are the same people that will blog about the unneccsary tax increases. Think people. "

Anytime I hear of this happening it breaks my heart because children are so innocent and powerless. This is something that is never forgotten! As to Leslie Christ Reinlasoder I do believe that he will pay in the end for his crimes. "

" It's easy for people to write in and give their opinion of how this should have been handled, but nobody ever really wants to get involved. I was raised in Sidney and there were too many individuals who were charged with crimes and received only a "slap" on the hand, or put on probation being told if it happened again, they would go to prision. When that same person ended up back in court in front of the judge only to be put back on probation. You can't draw the line with these criminals and then not follow through when they return to court for another crime. Some things just don't change. The residents in Sidney need to take note that maybe it's the "Court System" and those who run it that are letting down the residents. If you are voted in as a judge for a small community, set aside your personal feelings for these criminals, you might know their parent; you need to be big enough to stand up and draw the line and send these criminals to prision where they belong...maybe then you wouldnt have so many crimes, sexual offences happening as the "bad" guys would know they will be in prision rather than being placed on PROBATION! Stand up for what is right! "

" "What the", I brought it up. That is where it comes in. You are going to sit here and tell me that I don't have a point when this is what people have said in all of these past cases. Theft of 4-H funds, an attempted double homicide by a man named Bob, the Berg shooting, the Basic Energy theft case...and if I'm not mistaken, there is an article currently on this site printed August 31, stating that the reported facts were WRONG. Now you sit there and tell me that if I read it in the paper, it is 100 percent accurate and complete. Maybe so, but that is not what people always say. You proved my point by being so narrow minded that you can't understand that this situation is not isolated from other situations. You want to take a stand? Do it. Just understand your principles instead of acting on emotion. You can't agree with crime over there and disagree with it over here. My question was, and still is, where is the consistency? Then again, how could I expect to have an intelligent debate with someone who starts 3rd grade name calling? "

You almost sound as if you are a predator yourself, defending this man's actions against a child?! This young man made a very poor choice and now his life is ruined, and he will and should pay for it! I think people just want stiffer sentences for these types of crimes against children. I believe I do want to see them with harsher punishments! These kind really do need help, but all too often, they can NOT be helped. They get out and really hurt someone else and it may even take a life of another child. Something to think about. "

A little common sence could do wonders for you. "

When we had an incident where someone admitted to stealing money, actually a few different incidents of that recently, we were told the same thing. I've never had much personal experience in either one, but have to think that if I was shot in the face it may be as scarring as being "touched" as a child. (PTSD) After all, how does a child even know that it is not supposed to happen? It is not a natural aversion, it is something that adults in society tell them is wrong. So would a child who knew no better have all of these issues for years to come, or is it adults who help them paint themselves as outcasts? That is where the fear of sex comes in. If this is a crime that is perceived to trump theft and murder, of course a it will take a much higher emotional toll on a victim. That is what they were taught should be the case. "

I have no idea who these parties are and im not saying he did or didnt do it but when you polarize topics innocent people can be hurt, on both sides. As far as some of you putting out hanging or having prisoners rape him you should shut your computers off lock your doors and dont come into society. You are among the lowest human being! I think rape wether its a child or adult is disgusting and should be prosecuted to the fullest but you guys are pushing it. You advocate for rape but want it punished. You advocate for murder but you want it punished. Im in the middle as far as politics but I bet these people are the same people that think abortion is murder but they sure are quick to offer murder up for other people. And for your information, I don't defend murder or theft either - I agree, our justice system needs to be more consistent on punishing crimes (all of them - murder, sexual assault, theft, etc etc) - I only commented on the sexual assault because this was what this article is about - had it been about murder, I would have commented about that. Also, I would hope that there aren't a lot of people defending this guy - if it is ever proven that the Herald reported this inaccurately, I would be the first to step up and apologize for my comments. That is something that should not happen, ever. Where is the consistency though? When Sidney tries to crack down on attempted homicide or theft of funds, people are outraged that others have an opinion and don't consider the effects on the family of those accused. They are always "good people who made a bad decision". Who wants to be the one to step up and defend this? It is the same thing as any other law being broken, but I'm going to go ahead and say that I don't expect to see too many comments defending this person... This is where we are at today. People can feel great about defending murder and theft, but we are so terrified of sex in general that we can't take a stand for it, or even talk about it in anything but a situation like this. How come nobody has pointed out that we may not know all the facts of this case and there is more to it? Nobody has yet said that the Sidney Herald got this all wrong. I know why. This is something you can all gossip with your friends about. You would literally let someone kill to see someone go down like this because it gives you a chance to talk about someone else. "
