Man sentenced for family member assault

Eli William Gohde, 37, Sidney, was sentenced to five years with the Department of Corrections for partner/family member assault by District Court Judge Katherine Irigoin.

A charge of criminal mischief was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

The crime occurred when Gohde, who was living with his brother-in-law and sister in Fairview, kicked open a door at the residence during April 2009.

A fight ensued in the residence with his brother-in-law. Gohde choked his brother-in-law to the point of turning blue.
