Sidney AT Colstrip Invite
The youthful Sidney volleyball team opened its season Saturday at the Colstrip Invitational. The Eagles went 2-4 in pool play and lost their lone tournament game.
“We learned a lot about where we’re at,” Sidney coach Caryn Fehilly said. “Overall, the girls got a lot of playing time that only is going to help the team in the future.”

Sidney went on to fall in an extremely close match to Baker in tournament play 26-24 and 25-23.
Whitney Leuenberger led the Eagles with six kills, six aces and six blocks in the tournament. Airika Blackburn finished the weekend with 13 kills and 10 blocks. Ashley Farr had 19 assists while Krista Steinbeisser added 15. Allison Lee led the Eagles with 14 digs while Morgan Thiel had 12 digs.
Sidney travels to Billings for the Montana Wyoming Round Robin.
Grenora DEF. sAVAGE
The Savage volleyball team lost in three close games Friday against Grenora-Westby. The Gophers upended the Warriors 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18 at home.
Bridger Rice led Savage with four kills and five aces. Andria Mastvelten finished with 11 assists. Brittany Smith added nine digs and two blocks.
The Warriors travel to play Scobey Friday.

The R&L Fusion volleyball team fell to Scobey 25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 27-29 and 8-15 Saturday.
Jennifer Trotter led the Fusion with eight kills. Alexis Johnson finished with nine blocks while Laken Olson added 10 assists. Sarah Jensen led R&L with seven aces and 28 digs.
The Fusion play Froid-Lake Friday at home in Richey.
