Lily Kate Unruh

Lily Kate Unruh was born Tuesday June 16, 2009, in Williston, N.D. She died Wednesday Aug. 25, 2010, in Aurora, Colo.

In her 14 months of life, she laughed, loved and cried. With her soulful blue eyes, strawberry blond hair and the chubbiest cheeks allowed, she never gave up her fight. A fight that has shaped her family and friends and taught everyone what a true hero is. A little girl who smiled through the pain, learned to walk in a hospital room and died in her mom’s arms. She has found peace.

Lily is survived by her mom, Chelsea, and dad, Joey; her big sister, Avery, and her big brother, Ryan; her three grandpas, Steven Cassani, Billings, Russ Unruh, Fairview, and Bob McCartney, Sidney; her grandma Sue McCartney, Sidney; great-grandma Marge Unruh, Glendive; her uncles Jacob (Amanda) Cassani, Fargo, N.D., and Phil (Rachel) Unruh, Dickinson, N.D.; and her aunt Cari (Brian) Eisele, Sidney. Also, a caring and loving extended family stretching from Fargo to Seattle Wash., down to Houston, Texas, and all roads in between.

A celebration of Lily’s life will be held Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at 5:30 p.m. in Nutter Park, Sidney.
