Strength training for women begins Sept. 16

Published on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 7:08 PM MDT

Join us at the MonDak Heritage Center starting Sept. 16 for StrongWomen Stay Young, a strength training program for women.

This program will rev up your strength, balance and energy just in time for fall and winter activities. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:10 p.m. to 1 p.m. for six weeks ending Oct. 28.

The StrongWomen Program was developed by Dr. Miriam Nelson, PhD, at Tufts University for midlife and older women but is suitable for all ages both sedentary and active. MSU Extension offers the program throughout Montana with Richland county kicking off its third year of programming.

Participants work at their own pace using free weights. Some weights are available for class use, but participants will want to purchase free weights at some point. The first class, Sept. 16, will go over the requirements of the program.

Register by calling the Richland County Extension Office at 433-1206 before Sept. 15. Prior participants are welcome, and the program is free of charge.
