Coming off of an impressive opening season victory over a solid Augusta squad, the R&L football team is ready to play a home game. The team will get that chance by hosting Rosebud 1 p.m. Saturday.

“I was really pleased with how the team played last week. We played a pretty solid football game on both sides,” R&L Fusion head football coach Shawn Lien said of his team’s 38-12 victory.

“We’re ready to play at home.”

The Fusion used a strong rushing attack to defeat the Elk as Cameron Johnson led things with 123 yards and two scores. Jeremy Evenson also had a big game with 118 yards and a touchdown.

Charlie Switzer completed eight pass for 91 yards through the air. Kyle Sheehan caught three passes and a touchdown.

Defensively, Jack Switzer added 15 tackles while Sheehan had 10 tackles and one interception. Evenson and Johnson each recorded one interception.

R&L is now preparing to host Rosebud. The Wranglers are coming off of a 45-6 victory over Grass Range-Winnett.

“Rosebud is always a dangerous team,” Lien said. “They always seem to be a team that has the potential to be very strong if they get confidence.”

Lien feels it’s important that his team stays focused to have a successful game and season.

“We can’t overlook Rosebud,” Lien said. “They’re going to come to win.”
