A 49-year-old Sidney man was arrested on three drug-related charges in Sidney Friday.

Anthony R. Alonzo was charged with one count of felony distribution of dangerous drugs, one count of possession of dangerous drugs-methamphetamine, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Bond was set at $50,000.

The arrest came after the Sidney Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Office and an agent of the Big Muddy Drug Task Force searched Alonzo’s residence on the 200 block of Sixth Street S.E.

“We’ve been working on this case for several months,” Sidney Police Chief Frank DiFonzo said.

After obtaining information regarding the possibility of a residence where meth was being sold, authorities collected information and interviewed several people.

Because of the information, a search warrant was issued. Authorities say at this time, it doesn’t appear a meth lab was being conducted at the residence.

The investigation is ongoing. DiFonzo said additional charges and arrests may or may not occur.

If found guilty of distrubtion of dangerous drugs, a person shall be imprisoned in the state prison for a term of not less than two years or more than life and may be fined not more than $50,000.
