OUTDOORS ROUNDUP:

GREAT DE-BAIT.  The NDG&F Dept. reminds hunters that the use of bait is forbidden in a growing number of deer hunting units during the upcoming seasons.  Bait consists of not only placed items such as vegetable, fruit and grain waste, but also salts like those found in commercial deer licks. It’s wise to let those attractants used for trail cameras in the affected units this summer expire as archery season approaches.

GET HIP.  Don’t forget to register with the Harvest Information Program (HIP) as migratory bird hunting seasons – waterfowl and doves – approach.  Implemented 20 years ago, HIP helps management agencies get a grasp on hunter numbers and harvest from the previous year. With early goose starting on Aug. 15 and dove season on Sept. 1, mark your calendars for new hunting licenses and a HIP number as well.

DELTA BANQUET.  The Puddle Jumpers Chapter of Delta Waterfowl will be holding its annual banquet on Aug. 16 in Bismarck.  Guns, games and conservation discussions will be a big part of the event held at the Amvets facility.  Tickets can be ordered online through Delta Waterfowl.
