The Holiday Inn Express & Suites, located on West Holly Street in Sidney, greeted its first customers Wednesday.
“It was our projected opening day, and we hit it,” Chris Steffe, task force general manager for American Hospitality Management, told the Herald Thursday. “So we’re happy for that.”
American Hospitality Management runs motels in 11 states including from Wyoming to Louisiana. Other states include Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The Sidney Hotel Group formed by managing members Ray Johnson, Margie Peterson and Joe Sheehan own the Holiday Inn Express & Suites.
The four-story hotel features 75 rooms including 16 suites. Rooms include 32-inch flat-panel TVs, refrigerators and microwaves. The hotel will have high-speed Internet for wire and wireless.
A free breakfast for guests includes a “full spread” featuring pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast and the Holiday Inn’s famous cinnamon rolls.
The swimming pool area features a hot tub, regular pool, fitness room and a kiddie pool with fountains. A “party room” is located next to the pool to be used for birthday parties and other special occasions.
Other features include a guest laundry, a board room that sits about 12-15 individuals and a business center.
Currently, the hotel employs 15 people but the number may increase to 20-25.
