What better way to cool off in the summer while supporting the community than stopping at a lemonade stand?
Every year the Foundation for Community Care combines this classic summer staple with raising money for a cause. Fundraising for the Foundation for Community Care Scholarship Fund, they have been holding Lemonade Stand Thursdays since July 7, alternating times and locations.
The most recent Thursday lemonade stand took place at the Richland Federal Credit Union from Noon to 2 p.m., hosted by the Mayer family.
Previous lemonade stands this summer have taken place at the Foundation, hosted by the Denowh family, at the Big Sky Cookie Co., hosted by the Lee family and ar rge Merge Fashion + Lifestyle, hosted by the Haugen family.
“Each year we reach out to young families and local establishments to host our Lemonade Stand, which impacts a designated fund while introducing philanthropy to kids,” Lemonade for a Cause stand director Jennifer Boyer told the Sidney Herald in an email. “We had fantastic support again this year for the Foundation’s Lemonade Stand, from volunteers, community and patrons. All proceeds will impact our Scholarship Fund!”
The Foundation’s scholarship fund gives out thousands of dollars in healthcare scholarships each year, with the goal being that the recipients will return to practice in Eastern Montana upon completing their degrees. Thanks to the combined efforts of these volunteers and supporters, $1,101.15 has been raised.
“(We) had supporters come from Sidney, Fairview, Williston, Alexander, Lambert, Glendive and beyond,” Boyer said. “These patrons deserve a shout out, too, especially with the price of fuel and busy schedules. We are already looking forward to next summer’s Lemonade Stand!”
