Karsen Murphy, 17 of Glendive, was crowned Miss Montana Outstanding Teen 2019 Friday, June 21, by Miss Montana’s Outstanding Teen 2018 Cammy Heck at the Dawson County High School auditorium in Glendive. Daughter of Wade and Michaela Murphy, Karsen wins $1,100 scholarship and a trip to Orlando, Florida, to compete in the Miss America’s Outstanding July 23-27.

She also won talent with a lyrical dance. Karsen has been dancing for 15 years in the family owned LaDonna’s School of Dance, started by her grandmother, LaDonna Jimison 40 years ago. Last month Karsen broke the state Class A track triple jump record and the DCHS school record held by her aunt Tiffany for 28 years.

Contestants compete in interview (25 percent), talent (35 percent), evening wear (20 percent), fitness in sportswear (15 percent) and on stage question (5 percent).
