Written by Fort Peck Summer Theatre (FPST) alum Roger Bean, The Marvelous Wonderettes makes it FPST debut to celebrate Bean and the theatre’s 50th anniversary. This smash off-Broadway hit ventures back to the 1958 Springfield High School prom and follows a female singing group, whose hopes and dreams are as big as their beehives and crinoline skirts. The score includes over 30 classic 50s and 60s songs, sure to keep audiences smiling during this must-take trip down memory lane.
The Marvelous Wonderettes are played by Chae Clearwood, returning to FPST after a year hiatus, Glasgow native Rachel Lynn Pewitt and newcomers Haley Alexa Court and LA based Nikki Elena Spies. Scott Koljonen, Evan Goldhahn and K.C. Isaman comprise the on-stage band.
FPST Artistic Director Andy Meyers serves as Director/Choreographer, with Koljonen as Musical Director. Costume Designer Susan Crookshanks has build all new outfits for the production, based on the famous Butterick Patterns of the time period. Crookshanks spent 18 seasons as the costume shop manager at Bigfork Summer Playhouse and a handful of seasons at Arizona Broadway Theatre.
Performances are July 12 – July 21; Friday & Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. For more information call 406-526-9943 or visit the online box office at fortpecktheatre.org.
